management arrangements for victorian mangroves and coastal saltmarsh Management arrangements for mangroves and coastal saltmarsh are complex because of the occurrence of these vegetation types within the coastal zone, an area covered by a multiplicity of policies, statutes and by-laws and with diverse international, national, state and local influences. That complexity is further enhanced by the number of government agencies and non-government organisations that play a role in the planning and management of the coastal zone which encompasses mangrove and coastal saltmarsh environments.

The downside of combination fungicidesPre-packaged fungicide mixes can elevate the risk of developing pathogens that are resistant to treatment gicides based on mode of action. Therefore, combination fungicides have two different modes of action. In theo-ry, this should automatically help with resistance management. Combination fungicides are noth-

Social Studies of Science A history of deep brain © The Author(s) 2013 Reprints and permissions: stimulation: Technological innovation and the role of clinical assessment tools John Gardner Department of Sociology and Communications, Brunel University London, London, UK AbstractDeep brain stimulation involves using a pacemaker-like device to deliver constant electrical stimu-lation to problematic areas within the brain. It has been used to treat over 40,000 people with Parkinson's disease and essential tremor worldwide and is currently undergoing clinical trials as a treatment for depression and obsessive–compulsive disorder. This article will provide an his-torical account of deep brain stimulation in order to illustrate the plurality of interests involved in the development and stabilization of deep brain stimulation technology. Using Latour's notion of immutable mobiles, this article will illustrate the importance of clinical assessment tools in shaping technological development in the era of medical device regulation. Given that such tools can serve commercial and professional interests, this article suggests that it is necessary to scru-tinise their application in research contexts to ensure that they capture clinical changes that are meaningful for patients and their families. This is particularly important in relation to potentially ethically problematic therapies such as deep brain stimulation for psychiatric disorders.

29 JANUARY 2016 Factsheet - Zika Zika Virus Zika virus is a mosquito-borne virus that was first identified in the Zika forest of Uganda in 1947 in rhesus monkeys. It occurs in tropical areas with large mosquito populations and is known to circulate in Africa, the Americas, Southern Asia and Western Pacific. Given the expansion of environments where mosquitoes can live and breed, facilitated by urbanisation and globalisation, the World Health Organisation has warned there is potential for major urban epidemics of Zika virus disease to occur globally. More information is available from the World Health Organisation Transmission The Zika virus is transmitted to people through the bite of an infected mosquito from the Aedes genus, mainly Aedes aegypti in tropical regions. This is the same mosquito that transmits dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever. When the mosquito feeds on the blood of a person infected with Zika virus, the virus enters and multiplies within the mosquito. After about 2 weeks, the mosquito can transmit the virus to another human. After an infected mosquito bites a human, the first symptoms of Zika can develop in 3 to 12 days but it can be shorter or longer in some people. Whilst almost all cases of Zika are acquired via mosquito bites, a small number of cases have occurred through sexual transmission or by transmission from mother to foetus via the placenta. Symptoms The majority of people infected do not have symptoms. For those with symptoms, Typical symptoms include:
